Why I chose to make this costume:
Growing up, one of my favorite video games was Kingdom Hearts. My sister-in-law and her husband wanted to do this “mash-up” group together, and I fell in love with the art I found by Avery Ota.
Thoughts on this costume:
This costume means a lot to me, and while I do not still own most of it, I do still have the keyblade and shoulder armor. There are many things I would do differently today if I were to remake this costume (I will not), but the pieces I kept are still some of the items I am most proud of for my work. We also chose to compete in the Night at the Aquarium contest together, and while we did not place, I really enjoyed competing as a group for the evening. The photos are ones I will cherish for a long time as well because I love getting to do things like this with people I care about.
