Maleficent Headpiece

Never have I been more proud of a costume, and I didn’t even get to wear it! Maleficent is one of my favorite Disney villains. When Kelly agreed to be my mistress of all evil, I knew it had to be special. The horns headpiece was my favorite piece of this costume, and I can’t even take credit for most of their design.

If you haven’t used YouTube tutorials for help with cosplay then you are missing out. Here is the tutorial video that I used to help create the horns for this awesome cosplay with some minor modifications.

The main difference between her horns and mine is the material I used. She used paper mache. I started with this idea, but it turns out paper mache takes a lot longer than a day to dry. Given the fact that I needed to have these completed in three days, that wasn’t going to work. I also read that paper mache will eventually grow moldy over time, and that is just gross. I substituted plaster wrap for the paper mache. It dries in about twenty minutes, and it has a little bit more structure to it than paper mache.

After that, I pretty much followed the tutorial. It was hard for me to believe something so intricate took less than three hours to make excluding allowing the clay mold to dry. Below is a list of materials I used, where to buy them, and how much I spent on the horns total.

Materials

Total Cost $25.52
