SC Upstate Heroes
This past weekend I had the opportunity to partake in something very special. Recently, a friend reached out to me to see if I would be interested in joining a group of cosplayers who cosplay for charity. I don’t think there are words to say how excited I was when Shawn asked me about this. The group itself is called the SC Upstate Heroes. The group was founded in 2011, and everyone in the group is a volunteer. They focus on children’s charities in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. I’m so proud to call myself a member of such a big-hearted group.
I had the privilege of visiting the Greenville Memorial Children’s Hospital with them for my first event this weekend. It was magical. There are few moments in my life that I think have been more rewarding than the smiles we brought to so many children.
This visit was very humbling for me. It is often easy to forget what a wonderful life I have been given. Lately, I have been in a dark place, and visiting those kids who were so happy to see a hero in their room helped remind me of how much I have to be thankful for in my life. I also have been pretty burnt out in the cosplay game lately, and this lit a fire in me. I feel renewed and re-purposed.
Our group included Super Girl, Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Red Ranger, and Wonder Woman. For those that have pages, I linked them here, so you can all go show them some love. Thank you so much for letting me join such a great cause. I look forward to our next opportunity to save the day.

What a fantastic cause! I’m sure you guys made some kids very, very happy that day.
What an amazing experience! You all probably made many children’s days through your volunteering! I wish there were more charities like this in the world.
