Game of Thrones Tour
Remember when I explained why I initially was convinced to go on this trip? Yeah, so I’m a huge game of thrones nerd. I’m definitely more of a fan of the show. I have admittedly only read one of the books in the series, and I refused to read them ahead of the show because I like being overly involved in the drama and unknown that comes with only watching the show. Of course we had to go on a Game of Thrones tour of the city of Dubrovnik while we were there. After a fair amount of research we went with the extended tour from Dubrovnik Day Tours.
Our Tour Company Rocked!
I just want to start this off by giving a little overview of why we chose our company, and why we know we chose the right one. Before we arrived they were extremely responsive. They responded to all of my emails within 6 hours, and had additional options to choose from if we desired. They were also more affordable than most of the other tour companies we looked at while offering more content.
Our tour guide’s name was Ivana. You know that line from Hercules? Well we started to get the feeling that all the girls in Croatia were named Ivana, and all the guys were named Josip. This is fine by me since all of them were fabulous people to meet! She was absolutely stunning, and she also spoke about four or five different languages fluently. There were several other tours happening at the same time as ours, and let’s just say we definitely got the better experience. Some guides were dressed in costume, while other groups were just following around a person as they listened to a prerecorded tour on tape. It was so nice to have an actual human being to interact with, and even though we were obviously tourists we didn’t ‘completely stand out like a sore thumb.
The Tour
Our tour began with a visit to Fort Lovrijenac (St. Lawrence Fortress), which was the fortress where many scenes from the Red Keep were filmed. Not only did our tour gain us access to the fortress, but we were able to get a discount on the tickets we purchased to walk to city walls later that evening by keeping our tickets to the fortress.
Only scene filmed inside the Fort that is the streets of King’s Landing. This is when Sansa is being chased, and the hound comes to save her.
After visiting the red keep we visited Blackwater Bay where we visited multiple scenes that were filmed in this location.
Of course, if you are in King’s landing you must stop by Littlefinger’s brothel. The best part about this was that they had to cover up the patron saint of Dubrovnik. The most disappointing part is that it is not actually a brothel in real life, but a museum.
Finally, we got to revisit the walk of shame. I enjoyed this a lot!
Surprise Ending
Near the end of our tour Ivana surprised our group with a set of props that were produced by the same company that makes props for the show. If there is one way to make adults act like total children then it is to give them almost realistic toy swords. We reenacted Cersei’s walk of shame with a prop replica of the shame bell, and we all took our turns with the various weapons. My favorite photo is with the Lannister shield as I was dressed for the occasion with my Tyrion shirt by Jordandene.
Have I convinced you to visit Croatia yet? Some people aren’t as impulsive as I am, so maybe you need to keep reading? What would you want to see most in King’s Landing? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t forget to subscribe via email or Bloglovin‘ to never miss a post!

I’ve been wanting to visit this GOT location for a while now. And I’m happy to know that there is a tour that is budget friendly. Based on your photos the place really look great. And it would be a perfect addition to my travel photos. I would also love to see in real life the view of a medieval place it would definitely be a one of a kind experience.
